Community: This is one of the few cities in the greater Redding area with its roots solidified during the construction of Shasta Dam in the 1940's as a part of the "Central Valley Project". It's purpose was to provide flood control and year around water supplies for the farming and ranching communities of California's central valley. It is a growing and vibrant community with annual events and a population within the city limits of slightly above 10,000. In 1993 the city was formed by combining multiple unincorporated areas known as: Central Valley, Project City, Pine Grove, Toyon, and Summit City.
