Our Community:
We are a regional hub with a population of approximately 160,000 including nearly 100,000 in the City of Redding. The area serves a much larger population and geographical region stretching out great distances and therefore has the amenities of a much larger city. To some this area is known as "Upstate California" or "Far Northern California", whatever title you prefer we encompass more than 20% of the land mass and only 3% of the population in California.
Redding is home to two major hospitals, Mercy Medical Center Redding and Shasta Regional Medical Center. Both are top notch and have a full range of services, there are also specialty smaller hospitals and medical centers. The Redding area also serves as a regional base for most State and National agencies.
While many west coast communities have water shortage issues we have four major rivers: McCloud River, Pit River, Trinity River and flowing through Redding is the Sacramento River. The nearby large open spaces and resulting rivers help make this area less prone to water shortages.
